Our Diva

She finally did it! Elaine rolled over back to tummy! She rolled over tummy to back...at I believe 4 months old? Yeah probably around then. But has absolutely refused to roll from her back. She'll just lay there and watch people or lay there and yell at one of us until we roll her over or pick her up. (usually its picking her up)
Which brings me to my topic for today. My daughter the Diva. I love my little one, she is sweet, happy, full of excitement and sillyness. But my 8 month old is a total Diva. If her Daddy comes home from work and he hugs Adele first or even hugs me first she lets out a SHRIEK. She jumps up and down (in her exersaucer because i'm usually making dinner) and hollers for her Daddy's attention. If she doesn't get it right away she sticks out her lip and whines and whines. Daddy will then pick her up and she will NOT let him put her back down unless she has had ample Daddy time. Its so hilarious! I'd say she's a Daddy's girl but she's quite picky about who she wants all the time. For instance she'll only let ME lay her down. If Daddy lays her down she'll just roll over and yell or suck on her blanket and whine. She wont' go to sleep. But if I pick her up hold her for 5 seconds and lay her down she goes to sleep. She will only let me sit down and rock her to sleep, if Daddy tries to put her to sleep he HAS to walk her. She won't calm down if he tries the rocking chair. She really does crack us up, I love her personality and I love how different she is than Adele. It amazes us and definately entertains us. Although Daddy doesn't find it too hilarious when she wakes up when Mommy is gone and insists that she will not be happy unless she has Mommy (or as Daddy found out, Mommy's substitute...Baby Einstein) She lights up our lives and definately keeps us on our toes. And for that I am so grateful.

Blog slump

Some of you may of noticed that I haven't blogged in quite a while. I've been in a blog SLUMP. Or maybe its just been pure laziness seeping through. Who knows. But sorry about it all. I have been thinking of my friends. I have been thinking of things I can write but seriously NOTHING has been coming to me. Its Bloggers Block. Not fun I tell ya.
So I thought i'd show this picture of Elaine, thought maybe it would inspire me. And if it didn't atleast you'd have a cute picture to look at.
Easter is coming quickly, as you can see by my daughters ears. My Mother In Law got those for her and Adele. Adele's are already broken, not sure HOW but one ear is hanging by a piddly thread.
Adele is obsessed with cramming these on Elaine's head so these have been hidden by mommy. Which gives me a thought.
Hiding toys. Hiding clothes. Do you do it? We have a china cabinet that is about 7ft tall. At the top is an assortment of toys/books etc... that I can't stand. I'm either sick of hearing them or sick of reading them. A pretty princess mirror that lights up when you push a button and it says, "You're beautiful!, What a pretty princess!" Adele likes to use it as a flashlight, and since the lighting up feature lasts for 2 seconds you can imagine HOW often I heard how beautiful I am. So up it goes, on top of the cabinet. There is a Baby Einstein book that Adele became obsessed with at age 11 months. It has been retired to the cabinet. The 'newest' addition is a 1985 Sesame Street record player that my Mother in law (thanks again!) gave to us. You probably had one as a child. Its wind up and oh so fun, until you realize its 20 years old and the wind up lasts through about half a song. So you have to sit there with your child and wind it over and over and over.....you get the picture. I wanted to put it in the trash but my husband has saved it atleast 3 times. Adele can see it though even though its up 7ft so every once and awhile when she spots it and asks to play with it her daddy gets the honors. There are some coloring books she decided she wanted to rip every page out of. And I believe there is even a "crown" or two up there. Maybe I should go do some spring cleaning....How about you? Do you have a catch all spot for "retired" items? And what are they? Posted by Picasa

Mardi Gras!

King and Queen of Mardi Gras! We had a Mardi Gras party this week and it was a BLAST. My husband spent some time in New Orleans and has become slightly obsessed with Cajun cuisine. I think its wonderful and encourage it fully. (who WOULDN'T encourage their husband to cook!) These lovely folk were the King and Queen, my friend found baby jesus in her piece of King Cake and hence her crowning.
I made a fabulous King Cake which I was quite worried about but it turned out very well i must say! I was very proud and there wasn't a piece left at the end of the party. I've never thrown a party that wasn't for a birthday or baby shower so this was extra fun. We bought decorations, beads, delicious food. And had good friends over to celebrate with us and play games. A friend made a comment that she hadn't been to a "real" party in ages, and I don't think I have either. Especially with adult games. Sure we had 5 little kids running around but they entertained themselves. WE were the lucky ones who got to play ring toss with the mardi gras beads and Barbies! So everyone out there I encourage you to dust off your hosting gloves and throw a party! It doesn't have to be pricey, just have good friends & good food and it will be a blast! St. Patricks Day anyone? :) Posted by Picasa
