Blanket Love

When I was a little girl I had this blanket, MY blanket. The most perfect comfy soothing wonderful blanket in the world. It is pink, with a rosebud trim and a rosebud backing, and had a rosebud bear in the middle with my name on it. I looooved it. Had to sleep with it every night, and when I slept with it, it HAD to be laying a certain way. Bear had to have his head facing up like mine, he could NOT be upside down. I just couldn't fall asleep with him being upside down!We slept together every night until I got married. Then my husband put his foot down on having a wife who slept with her blanket. RUDE!

When I was about 13 or 14 my sister decided it was time blankie had a remodel. The rosebud bear was shredded, its name bib hanging by a thread. She took my sweet blankie and with new fabric made a new bear, attaching his old bib in the correct place. Blankie used to have a butterfly but it has long since dissapeared. Ever since my sister remodeled blankie it was even MORE special to me. It now signified her love for me on top of it all. So needless to say blankie is very cherished.

Now the rosebud pattern on the back is completely faded to light light pink, you can KIND of see the rosebud if you look in the crevices of the ruffle on the side. This blanket started my obsession with the rosebud pattern. Adele has a rosebud blanket in pink, just like mine. Elaine has a rosebud pattern in purple. And they both have rosebud patterned nightgowns to match. LOL

As things happen (and husbands hide...) I found blankie last week in my linen closet. Stuffed towards the back behind the old sheets we never use. I took it out and smelled it, put it up against my face and cuddled it...ahhh peace...comfort. My blankie. So I pulled it out and put it by "My" chair. To be used when I was feeling chilly or wanting to cuddle with my baby while I fed him.

Turns out what is special to MOMMY is special to ADELE. She saw me cuddling with my blankie and was intrigued. What was this new blanket Mommy was so attached too? It didn't look like HER blanket, but she could make out a faint rosebud pattern like hers. She asked for it, Mommy refused. I was being selfish, I thought I had the right to be selfish about my blanket. I mean it was MY blanket, she had her own blankets to love and cuddle and dream in. So I put it away and told her to leave it alone.

Later on in the week I was in the toy room talking to some friends online and Adele was unusually quiet. I went into the front room and this is what I found.

Okay FIRST of all, Adele hasn't taken a nap in the middle of the day in like... a year. Second, looks like my blanket worked its magic on my little girl. My heart melted at the sight of this cuteness. Of course I let her cuddle with it, of course I let her feel the warmth and smell that her mother has loved for 27 years (ok ok ALMOST 28 years) But ya when she woke up and pushed the blanket aside to get up. Her mother also snatched up the blanket and put it out of sight. So Mommy could cuddle it later.

That is such a cute pic. Hallie adopted my "cocoa". Which was my pound puppy fromt he time I was 5. He is like the only sentimental thing I own. It is so cute to see it mean something to my little girl. :)
